Ort, StuartDr. Stuart Ort is Board Certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery with a special interest in Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery. Dr. Ort received his undergraduate degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1999 and his medical doctorate from Penn State University in 2003. He completed his residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery also at Penn State in 2008. Dr. Completed his fellowship training in Neurotology-Skull Base Surgery at the California Ear Institute in May of 2010.

Dr. Ort sees patients at the Palo Alto clinic. He provides both medical and surgical care for a full spectrum of ear and balance related disorders. He is also currently involved in a number of clinical research projects.

Dizziness: Is it Meniere’s or Migraine, or both?

I wanted to share some of my approach to dizziness.  There is increasing interest among ENT physicians in the connection between migraine and Meniere’s disease. Meniere’s disease is a disorder of the inner ear characterized by episodic fullness, tinnitus (ringing), hearing loss, and vertigo whose cause is poorly understood. While the prevalence of migraine in the US population is 13%, the prevalence of migraine in patients with Meniere’s disease is 56%, and the prevalence of migraine in patients with bilateral Meniere’s disease is 85%….
